IGCS Summer School 2016 Biomass and Coal – Two Carbon Fuels of Different Ages: German and Indian Perspectives | 09 July to 18 July 2016 | Technical University Berlin has started with 25 student participants and reknown lecturers from India and Germany. After the official opening by host, Prof F Behrendt, EVUR, TU Berlin the students were welcomed by representative of the Indian Embassy, Mr Ravikrishnan, Minister, Center Coordinator Prof Chella Rajan and Area Coordinator Prof Krishna Vasudevan, IIT Madras. A keynote speech on the Indian Energy Situation and Potential Coal Technologies by Prof Ajit Kumar Kolar, former professor of IIT Madras and former IGCS Energy Coordinator, was followed by lively discussion. Students will work on specific projects during their stay at TU Berlin and interact with lecturers Profs Mukunda, Dasappa, IISc Bangalore, A B Rao, IIT Bombay, Vinu R., IIT Madras, Sreenivas Jayanti, IIT Madras. Excursions to Vattenfall and Jänschwalde, cultural visits complement the program.
