IGCS Kick-off Workshop “Urban Resilience and adaptations to Climate Change”

Kick-off workshop on Monday 17th March, 2014 from 3.00 to 5.30 pm at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), IIT Madras. IGCS will be hosting the field trip of a students’ group of the Faculty of Spatial Planning, Technical University of Dortmund, Germany, from 16th March to 2nd April. The students are working on the topic “Urban resilience and adaptation to climate change in Chennai, India”. The projects’ main objective is it to examine if there are potentials for cooperative adaptation to urban flooding between various stakeholders along the Buckingham Canal. This activity is taking place in collaboration with Transparent Chennai (NGO). Moreover, IITM students in the NSS, also studying socio-economic and environmental aspects of Buckingham Canal, will be part of this collaboration as well. (Picture: R. John)
